| Natural Condition Prunes are stored directly from the dryer. Because their moisture content has been reduced to 17%-21% (the smaller sizes having the least moisture), they can remain in storage in this condition until sold or processed. These are available in sizes 20/30 to 90/100 count (pieces of fruit per pound). We offer packaging in 30 kg. and 70 lbs. poly bags or 2200 pound fiber tote bins. | ||||||||||||
| Processed Prunes | ||||||||||||
| Whole Processed Prunes have been rehydrated but the pit remains. If potassium sorbate is used, the shelf-life is extended. Potassium sorbate is a natural preservative to protect against mold and yeast spoilage. If the customer requests non-sorbated, the shelf-life is shortened and less moisture is added to the prune. These are available in 20/30 to 90/100 count (pieces of fruit per pound). We offer 25 lb., 30 lb., or 12.5 kg. cartons. | ||||||||||||
| Ashlock Pitted Prunes have been rehydrated but the pit has been removed (the appearance is similar to a pitted olive). If potassium sorbate is used, the self-life is extended. Potassium sorbate is a natural preservative to protect against mold and yeast spoilage. If the customer requests non-sorbated, the self-life is shortened and less moisture is added to the prune. These are available in 30/40 to 80/90 count (or pieces of fruit per pound). We offer 25 lb., 30 lb., or 12.5 kg. cartons. | ||||||||||||
| Elliott Pitted Prunes have been rehydrated but the pit has been removed by press rollers (squeeze method). If potassium sorbate is used, the self-life is extended. Potassium sorbate is a natural preservative to protect against mold and yeast spoilage. If the customer requests non-sorbated, the self-life is shortened and less moisture is added to the prune. This method can be used for smaller prunes than the Ashlock Pitted. Small Elliott is an average of 90/100 count (pieces of fruit)per pound. We offer 25 lb., 30 lb., or 12.5 kg. cartons. | ||||||||||||
| Manufacturing Prune is only sold after receiving permission from the California Prune Board. These prunes are to be used for juice, puree, or such a use that the prune does not remain whole or recognizable as a prune. These prunes are usually too small to meet the 90/100 count or have defects that are edible but for appearances cannot be used as a whole prune. We offer 2200 pound fiber tote bins. | ||||||||||||
